Breaking taboos, removing shame and empowering girls

Last week, our team travelled through the Asuogyaman District in Ghana's Eastern Region with our Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) programme. Through interactive workshops and the distribution of reusable pads, we helped hundreds of schoolgirls take control of their own future.

In total, we reached 597 girls at 10 schools and handed out no fewer than 3,759 sanitary pads (reusable pads from Eco-Period as well as disposable ones).

In the Eastern Region, where we work together with local farmers, our Foundation team visited schools including Ankyease D/A Basic School, Atimpoku Presby Primary School, Akwamu West Anglican Primary School, Akwamu Abuakwa D/A Basic School, Abume D/A Primary School, Aboasa Presbyterian School, Akwamufie Presby Basic School and New Senchi RC JHS.

A milestone worth celebrating: Our first circular toilet unit is officially open!

What started as an idea, months of planning, and hard work has now become reality. We officially opened our very first circular dry-system toilet unit at Aboase School in Ghana, where it will benefit more than 400 students every single day.

The opening was exactly what it should be: a moment shared with students, teachers, and the community. There was music, there were smiles, and there was a real sense that something important had started.
